Translating the Name is the debut release by Saosin, the only release to feature current Circa Survive vocalist Anthony Green instead of Cove Reber, as well as Pat McGrath and Zach Kennedy. Guitarist Beau Burchell stated that drummer Alex Rodriguez intended to track the drums for Translating the Name but had a prior commitment with his former band Open Hand before he could join. Pat McGrath was hired as a session musician and played with Saosin only briefly before Rodriguez could join. A bonus disc with acoustic demos was shipped with early pre-orders.
